Dear Governor Hickenlooper-

Our Longmont invites you to participate in our community rally and event on Saturday, September 22.  The event, which is titled “Rally ‘Round Longmont,” is a rally in support of prohibiting fracking in our community.

Our Longmont is comprised Longmont residents—teachers, retirees, business owners, medical professionals, and homeowners—all of whom are deeply concerned with the impacts of fracking.  We believe that fracking threatens our rights under the Colorado Constitution to protect our families’ health and our property.  For these reasons, we are seeking to prohibit fracking next to our houses, our schools and our reservoir.

You stated at the Colorado Oil and Gas Association Conference in mid-August that you don’t understand why we are so concerned about fracking, and that you would like to come to Longmont to listen to our concerns.  We’d like to take you up on your offer.  We hope you can join us for our community event in support of the Longmont Health, Safety and Wellness Act on Saturday, September 22^nd—see the attached flyer for more information.

We take nothing more seriously than the health of our families, the well-being of our community and the value of our property.  We want to keep Longmont a great place to live.  We hope you will join us to listen to our concerns on Saturday, September 22^nd.
